Tiny videos, played anywhere.
tinv compresses ordinary videos into .tinv files that are a
fraction of the original size, then plays them back in your browser.
What is a .tinv file?
A .tinv is an ordinary video re-encoded to be far smaller,
typically 10 to 50 times smaller than the source, while staying
watchable.
It is wrapped in a small container, so a .tinv only opens in
the tinv player, not in a plain video player. Metadata such as the title
and compression ratio is stored inside the file itself.
Open source
tinv is open source. The player, converter, and file format are all public, so you can read exactly how it works or run it yourself. View it on GitHub.
Convert
The Convert tab compresses short videos right in your browser, with nothing uploaded. For large recordings, a desktop tool does the same job much faster using native encoding.
Play
Open a .tinv in the player, or share a link to one hosted
online. There is no account, no tracking, and playback works offline once
the app is loaded.
